About Dr. Dennis Ayon
Dr. Dennis Ayon has been trained in both ophthalmology and internal medicine. Dennis Ayon, MD, currently practices at the United States Department of Health’s Indian Health Service in the Mescalero Service Unit, where he serves on the Pain Management Committee.
After earning his doctor of medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School, Dr. Ayon joined the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, where he completed a year-long residency in ophthalmology. Next, he finished a two-year residency in internal medicine, specializing in infectious diseases, in the Santa Barbara Cottage Health System.
During his education, Dennis Ayon, MD, earned several honors for outstanding achievement, including the University of Michigan Merit Scholarship and National Hispanic Scholarship Award. He belongs to the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the Hawaii Medical Association. In his free time, he enjoys finishing The New York Times crossword puzzles and playing piano and chess.
